Quick Tip | Mix a more natural-looking green

Here is a quick tip for you!  Remember the color wheel post I did awhile ago? 
Complementary colors are straight across from each other on the color wheel. 
 
 
 
Did you know that if you mix a bit of a color's complement it will neutralize the color? 
 
Today my quick tip is to get a more natural green for your leaves, add a bit of red!

Cinderella Elie Saab gown | Disneyland screening appearance

Did you see this dress?  Oh my goodness.  That Elie Saab is on fire.  I'm in love with everything he designs.  It's sad that I haven't heard of him until recently, but he has quickly become one of my favorite designers.

Cinderella World Premier | Elie Saab gown

If you've been following me on Instagram you'll know my obsession with Cinderella and the gowns Elie Saab has been designing for Lily James to wear at all of her appearances.  This particular dress was worn for the World Premier of Cinderella.  It is just so exquisite, I cannot stop swooning over how beautiful the dress is!

Anyway, here are a couple of progress shots as well as the finished piece. 

 I love how my camera captured the light from the glitter to make an extra little magic to the photograph.  This will not be the last time I illustrate this gown, I'm too in love with it!

Whit & Collin |

I love my sweet friend Whit who got married in January.  She just sent me these photos and I remembered how much I loved her flowers!  She had the gorgeous blushy pinks with white and a splash of gold!  So great.  And isn't she the most beautiful bride?

The Letter H | Basic Calligraphy Tutorial

If I were to choose a favorite letter, the letter H would be it!  I love it so much.  Whenever I practice with a new nib, I tend to write "happy" and "hello" over and over and over just because I love the way the letter H looks both in upper and lowercase.  Do you have a favorite letter?

Cinderella by Elie Saab Fashion Illustration || Scan

I think I may have mentioned this a few times, but I am absolutely obsessed with this dress by Elie Saab that Lily James wore to the world premier of Cinderella.  It just makes my heart happy. I look at it at least 5 times a day.  Since I'm so in love with it, I decided I needed to illustrate it.  This is my first attempt, and I plan on illustrating it some more until I'm 100% happy with it.  Eventually I want to hang it up in my house.
 
Anyway, here is a scan of the first one I did.  It doesn't really capture the glitter very well, which looks much nicer in person!!  I'll be posting more photos along with the initial sketch and some progress photos soon!

Pattern A Day

I recently discovered how to make a repeating pattern in Adobe Illustrator, and now I can't stop.  I love it so much.  I love seeing how different elements in my artwork come out as a pattern!  I've committed to do a Pattern every day in March to practice.  Here are a few patterns I've made so far.

Emma Stone Oscar 2015 - Elie Saab | Watercolor Fashion Illustration


 
 
That was a really long title.  I love to do a little fashion illustrating here and there.  Last Saturday I tried my hand at Emma Stone's stunning Elie Saab gown. (I am obsessed with his work!  Have you seen the dress he designed for Lily James for the Cinderella premier??  I die.  It is so pretty.  I'm going to have to illustrate that one next.) 
 
I usually use pen and Prismacolor, but this time I tried watercolor and added a bit of glitter to give it that final touch!  What do you think?
